Sakura is blooming in summer
And the petals are falling up

Taken with Hoya R-72 InfraRed

Some have complained that I have moved away from landscapes. Well. it's partially true. But I will get back, I promise. Since there are the ND-8 and ND-Grad filters laying on my desk, I think there will be more nature shots soon.

Thank you for the feature!
No problem! I'm glad you liked this particular photo!
Thank you!

I've got a problem you may be able to figure out. I just got my Hoya r72 filter, and love it. However, I have this awful lighter circle right in the dead center of the frame. Any idea on what causes this? I'm shooting a completely unmodified Canon Rebel XTi.

Nevermind, got the whole hot spot thing figured out! By the way, ....

You've been featured in my journal! Nice work, and keep up the great shots!

Well, first of all try using the lens hood to eliminate any side-light reflecting in the composition. It gets pretty nasty when shooting with long exposures.
Then, be sure to cover the viewfinder if you are shooting with the light/sun in the beck - the light reflects to the lens and the sensor through the viewfinder.

Hope this will help.

Thanks for the thoughts, I'll definitely give it a shot! I have another question, however. Whenever I white balance to a subject, with the filter on, and then I take pictures of the same subject, with the same light, my pictures turn out blue. (The subject). Any ideas?

Try setting the white balance on the green leaves - it will give you a pretty close toning to what you usually see in IR pictures. Though, you still have to post-process it in PS with Curves in order to achieve the desired effect. IR photography gives you much room for experiments, in terms of how to tone the image. Try tweaking it in different ways. But be sure to set a custom white balance - it saves you much time, and gives neat pictures right in-camera.
